Welcome to another edition of Forzanightly. The home to all of your Revolution Online Racing related news.
Here we have the final of the Revolution Touring Car Championship around the brilliant Indianapolis GP Circuit on the alternative layout. I'm going to let the videos do the talking for Rounds 15&16, sending the series off with a bang! So we hope you enjoy the action as much as we did.
Our next races were the brilliant Abarth 500 Championship which travelled across the pond to Road Atlanta. With only a few of the regular drivers making it to this outing, it meant points would be scored by all in attendance. BakedBean57 and FeltDeano1971 carried ballast from the last rounds meaning qualifying would be tricky for the northern duo.
Qualifying commenced and BakedBean57 took pole, even with his ballast, and FeltDeano1971 slotted in further down the field. Pimms UKSF took 2nd with a more than competitive time and 3rd went to Weblomaniac.
Race 1 saw a heated battle for 1st as BakedBean57 struggled to keep Pimms UKSF behind him with the ballast coming into affect, and saw BakedBean57 drift wide and hit the tyres meaning he had to head for the pits earlier than he would have liked. Further down the grid, the ask were jostling for positions left right and centre, with FeltDeano1971 coming to terms with his ballast as well. Pimms UKSF gained a major lead over BakedBean57 until a loss of concentration and a pit stop see BakedBean57 regain the lead and ultimately take the win for race 1, with Pimms UKSF taking the bonus point for fastest lap.
Race 2 started with BakedBean57 and Pimms UKSF starting at the back of the field and carrying the grip and power deficit. A great start from all of the cars saw a very close first corner and following laps, with Ferrarifan1991 leading the way. The pressure of the field behind saw him make a mistake into the chicane, with 4th placed FeltDeano1971 make a brave decision to take the lead as the other drivers scattered across the track. Pimms UKSF was hoping to repeat his race 1 spoils, ending the race battling with Weblomaniac and Zx WULLY for the whole race. Out front, FeltDeano1971 had a healthy lead over BakedBean57, who made his way from the back of the pack to the front, before taking his pit stop. BakedBean57 tried to get the jump on FeltDeano1971 by closing the gap and staying out of the pits until the very last lap. It proved not to be enough as the Teesider regained the lead and charged to the chequered flag and in turn taking his first win here at ROR. Next time out, FeltDeano1971 and BakedBean57 with be carrying ballast again, this time around Silverstone where we hope the usual suspects will return to the field.
Last but not least was the Revolution cup. The Mini GP's returned to the track for their monthly outing, this time at the sunny Catalunya National Circuit. With 3 of the drivers carrying ballast from the last rounds, qualifying was set to be interesting. Pole position was taken by GenuineGull095 seeing the beginning of an impressive racing return for the South African. 2nd went to the ever quick Ralflet who was carrying ballast, followed by BakedBean57 3rd who was also carrying ballast. The big shock to qualifying was thebeardyguy who ended up down in 9th position as he struggled to get a lap together.
Race 1 saw more competitors make their way to grid but after missing qualifying, Tyronee487163 and Pimms UKSF would start from the back of the field. GenuineGull095 took the win followed by Ralflet in what seemed to be a race long fight between the two. Tyronee487163 had an epic race, managing to finish in 3rd position from the very back of the grid and bagging himself more championship points. Just shy of the podium were BakedBean57 and FEUERDOG who were separated by only two tenths of a second when they crossed the line. 6th place was secured by thebeargyguy, meaning he would lose his ballast for race 2 but also lost some championship points after not calling blue flags when approaching a back marker. Then came the battle between FeltDeano1971 and firben who we have dubbed Mr.'That gap is mine' vs Mr.'Politest guy on Xbox'. The two battled all race long and crossed over the line only separated by 0.050 seconds, making it one of the closest finished we have had here at ROR.
Race 2 meant GenuineGull095 would start from the back and gain ballast due to his win in race 1 and his fastest lap. The rest of the top 5 also carried ballast for this race. Firben started from pole position, followed by thebeardyguy who with no ballast was definitely going to be one to watch. The grid number dropped due to an unusual retirement from Pepper27192, but we do hope to see our resident female racer back on the grid and racing soon. As the race got underway, the pressure of the first few laps saw Tyronee487163 enter the pits very early with the question hanging over everybody's head whether he would even be able to finish the race without running out of fuel?! A race long battle with GenuineGull095 saw the Welshman get the better of the South African, who picked up some engine damage during the race. This resulted in Tyronee476183 taking 4th position and GenuineGull095 finishing in 5th, narrowly beating the battling duo of FeltDeano1971 and FEUERDOG for the position. FeltDeano1971 had yet another promising race weekend, with team mate Pimms UKSF retiring from race 2 due to electrical problems (which was more like the batteries running flat in his controller). Another retirement was Ralflet who succumbed to the pressure of Papa Ralf watching from pit lane. The podium was made up of thebeardyguy in 1st and firben in 2nd. BakedBean57 finished in 3rd, and considering he has carried ballast pretty much every race since it was introduced isn't doing too badly, gaining championship points in every race and hoping to continue his championship campaign at the next outing where yet again, he carries ballast. thebeardyguy had the perfect race with the mixture of no ballast and starting on the front row giving him race winning conditions from the get go. firben also had another strong weekend showing Mr.'Politest guy on Xbox' has to be considered a threat on track. Finally, a special mention to BoostedPluto, who was unable to race due to a gruelling exam period came along for the ride and watched the action.
Well that's a wrap for this edition of Forzanightly. Thanks for reading and we hope to see you on track soon.
