So here we are again for another edition of Forzanightly. There has been plenty happening here at Revolution Online Racing so lets get straight to it.
First up we have the Australian Touring Car Championship. This weeks host track was Watkins Glen Full. thebeardyguy managed to put his Skyline on pole, but only by 0.2 of a second in front of another Skyline. Would this be another track favoured by the Nissans? Instead of my rambling on, check out the videos below for the race replays in full.
The first rounds of the Lotus Exige Cup were around the fantastic Catalunya GP. A favourite track of many of our racers provided a challenge for these rear-wheel drive cars but Ralflet managed to beat ZeroRumble56844 to pole position by half a second. Does this mean that he would be able to take the win? Watch the videos of the races below and find out for yourselves.
The second outings for the Abarth 500's were around Brands Hatch GP. The track played well for the little cars and provided some brilliant racing. BoostedPluto was on top after qualifying and put his little 'A Bath' liveried Abarth on pole for the first race. This however didn't mean that he would come out on top after the race, with the fast charging BakedBean57 and thebeardyguy hot on his heels. This was some fun racing to be had by nearly all on track and a great watch so check out the race replays below and see who came put victorious in the races.
The penultimate rounds of the ever popular Revolution Touring Car Championship was held at Sonoma around the Short variation of the track. Getting the most from his Audi S3 Saloon, thebeardyguy beat second placed BakedBean57's Toyota Avensis to pole by 0.3 of a second, with third placed PPS Tdawg046's BMW 125i M Sport only 0.2 of a second behind. This was going to be some awesome racing with the nature of the tracks tight flowing turns providing challenge for everyone in attendance. Watch the videos below to see who would come out on top and grab some more championship points.
Next up was the Revolution Cup around Brands Hatch GP. With a smaller than usual number of people racing this weekend, everyone would score points if they completed the races. thebeardyguy only just managed to get his Team ROR liveried Mini onto pole position by pipping BUCKO VERSUS by 0.1 of a second. thebeardyguy was able to capitalise on his pole position and took the win for race 1. The story was not the same for BUCKO VERSUS as he dropped down to third position and simply wasn't able to pass BakedBean57 who finished in 2nd.
Race 2 was different to any other race here at ROR as we introduced our new ballast system. Depending on the number of drivers racing, we are giving the top finishing drivers a slight power and grip deficit in some series. In this case, it was the top 4 drivers who were given the ballast and put into their own bucket. First time racer PrefabSquire7 used the fact that he had no ballast to his advantage and drove home with his first win, pipping the 4 ballast ridden cars to the top step of the podium. thebeardyguy topped off a good weekend by finishing 2nd in this race and BUCKO VERSUS finished in 3rd. Keep an eye out on the website for updated results.
The next weekend of racing was the return of the Abarth 500 Championship around Hockenheim National. FIA LMC Alflo took pole position from qualifying with a time of 1:42.3, only 0.6 of a second in front of 2nd placed thebeardyguy. Qualifying was a tight affair as the top 5 were split by only 2 seconds! In race 1, FIA LMC Alflo was not able to take advantage of his pole position start as after colliding with another car, he had to retire from the race. BakedBean57 came out victorious crossing the line in first position, followed by thebeardyguy and Team Beige Tyronee487163 and in fourth was the returning GenuineGull095, who after a short break from racing returned to ROR with a strong race and finishing position.
Race 2 gave the top 5 finishing drivers ballast, meaning they would have to deal with a power and grip deficit. The only thing that would be able to save them was if they didn't manage a brilliant lap as the race 2 grid is now ordered by fastest lap and then reversed. BUCKO VERSUS was able to capitalise on having no ballast on board and took the win, with ballast-laiden thebeardyguy coming home in 2nd. Taking the last step of the podium was FeltDeano1971 who with a mixture of no ballast and some consistent lap times was very racey throughout. The top 5 finishers will be given ballast for the next race so we will have to wait and see who will be able to fight through their ballast in qualifying and set a competitive lap for a good starting grid position.
Results will be loaded onto the website soon so keep an eye out.
And that, guys and gals, is the end of this edition of Forzanightly. Hope you have enjoyed catching up with all ROR news so until next time, keep the wheels turning.
